I sometimes have the improper thought, when we read these parshios, and Hashem saves Yishmael: "Well, thanks alot. That really worked out well." Of course it's wrong, but it just pops up in my brain, given the hatred we suffer today from his awful descendants, who are all the angel promised and worse.
