The King Is In

By Neil Fleischmann

years ago
from across
an ocean
a dear friend
told me that
the king is
in the field

it was ellul
and it struck him
so he told me
what he'd learned
a new expression
the king is
in the field

my dear friend
is a prince
He thanks G-d
for His kindness
all the time
with his smile
he brightens life

he always knew
always knows still
where his Father
the King is
in the field
the life field
all year round

Absolutely touching.

You have a way of transforming a "regular" idea into a moving poem.

What is that TV show where people bring "junk" to these appraisers to see if they have junk or if they surprisingly have priceless gems?

I think that is how you look at life. It is one of your special traits: seeing events, people, laces, things or ideas that seem mundane to others; but you see the priceless gems!

Thank you.

Shloime,

I'm so glad that this poem - which poured out naturally - was meaningful to you. In return I am touched by your take on how I see things.
