On Root Canal

Someone has to think
Of what root canal hurts like
Must be something else

That's a nice HOTD (I wrote some too today.)

Take care of yourself while recovering.

Whatever else hurts like a root canal... we don't want to know. But pain is inherently outside of comprehension, expression.

I once asked my dentist, when he said I needed a root canal, whether he had ever had one. He said no. I said there should be a requirement for every dentist to undergo one root canal, whether he needs it or not.

This was before I had my first. Once I experienced it, though, it wasn't as big a deal to me.

Root canal hurts
like filling a deep cavity.
Only less. Much less.

Root canals are best treated by an Endodontist, as Kishke said. Regular dentists may mean well, but they do not have the know-how of the specialist. I've had several root canals from both types of dentist and I know!

Feel fine very soon, or call your dentist about any pain or nagging feeling there.

A Poem for Dentists
--------------------------
A poem for dentists
would need
hard shiny surfaces
brittle tapping
probing steel
high-pitched
machine
whining
seeking
cavities
constituted
of pain
clenched muscles
words to evoke
feelings of drowning
or suffocation
reassuring murmurs
that don't reassure
deep sighs
of relief
and release
at good-bye

All write
the poem for dentists.
But who would read it?
Do dentists do poetry?

no kishke, dentists only do pain.
this reminds me, what was that book or movie that you had me read/see about dental nightmares? if i wrote a poem about dentists it would be about sodium pentathol and rubber noses. hope you are well kishke...hope you are healing and feeling better, RNF i am about to go down for breakfast. i feel so rejuvenated after spending the day in Yam Hamelach...why do dreams need to end?

I'm fine, thanks. Haven't had a root canal for a whole year now. I'm remembering past experiences, and not the worst of them, believe me.
