Hurt People Hurt People
Isn't it an amazing thing how some people push our buttons and others don't? Someone just pushed my buttons. Maybe the person who pushes my buttons is the type of person that's just looking to push, because my buttons don't get pushed that easily. Let me be clear that I'm talking about the negative context here.
As I type this I'm listening to a positive thought - the song Unsingable Name.

So did you explode?
Sorry to hear this. Some people are better than others at doing that. At least you have good music to listen to. I look forward to the parsha post later. Right now the link isn't working on my computer.
No, Kishke, I didn't explode - at least I hope not. It was a virtual exchange and I did answer and I was firm (and upset) in my response, but hopefully I was appropriate. I suspect that I was.
Esqcapades, thanks for the kind words of empathy and appreciation. I think that d"t willappear in my school' Torah weekly, so if I get feedback soon I can incorporate it...
I like the title of this entry. Sometimes sadism (mild or poisonous) is indeed a "pass it on" phenomenon.
Sorry you got zinged.
Thanks Anne - for the appreciation and empathy. That line of the title is a piece of wisdom a friend of mine learned and passed on to me.
You're so right. It's the reason that the disorder, borderline personality, which is assigned to many hurtful perople, is also associated with depression.
therapy doc - wow! your comment makes so much sense...
and of course the flipside would hold true...people who make you feel good are usually optimistic people...those are the ones we want to be around...
also this reminds me of a wonderful little piece of research that I recently heard read and heard from a dear friend and a colleague...there was an Israeli research team that ascertained that writing five positive things down a day could replace depression meds...

Even better, I hear that writing five negative things each day can replace depression. :)
'Even better, I hear that writing five negative things each day can replace depression. :)'
Even better, I hear if you alphabetize them and copy them ten times in straight lines it can replace ocd :)
Which reminds me of the joke I heard recently about the guy who came to the psychiatrist complaining that he suffered from CDO.
you're pretty funny Kishke, but actually I think that guy had a personality dis"order".
And that reminds of the old joke regarding a convention of Dyslexic Theologians.
They spent a whole night arguing about the existence of Dog.
which reminds me (don't ask me why) of the cannibal that ate the Rabbi, Priest and minister and then started the first ecumenical movement
I've been off line for about 12 hours and came back to see this nice discussion here. Glad to fascilitate. thank you all for being here.
rr - I heard that group is dwindling, they had too many feasts which ate up all their prophets.
(sorry Rabbi - I thought of that driving home from work and just had to add it)
Actually, I heard the problem was that it was a Conservative rabbi, who, being half-baked, gave them indigestion.
Thank you RNF! Pretty funny Esq.(if you can get past the visual). lol Kishke-I had fun bantering with you. Since I can't think of another one right now, I'll let you have the last laugh.
Okay! Have a good Shabbos.
Thanks, you too.
