Her Horoscope Was Right

I just heard an intriguing news story, I was going to paste an article about it, then noticed that at the bottom of the page it says, "This material may not be published, broadcast, rewritten or redistributed." I hope that a link is OK. I am forever fascinated by Fate and Providence. Check out this article and tell me you don't feel happy for this woman.

Fate really is fascinating. I rememeber a friend lamenting about someone, that as to everything that happened to him, it seemed he had no siyata d'shmaya. This link is a great story, the woman got the "wrong" ticket, but trusted in siyata d'shmaya (l'havdil her horoscope) and then: "Hashem makes poor and makes rich" (Shmuel I, 2:7). Of course, as far as demonstrations of a pasuk goes, I prefer the positive side of it. I pray that no one has to experience the "poor" part, but I'm afraid the Madoff investors have unfortunately been given a demonstration of that part of the pasuk.

Good comment.

We all have hashgacha, and it's hard because we always want to feel and see it as positive...

I am struck by the line in which we ask G-d to erase our chataim but not through yisurim or illness (rachmana litzlan). To me, we're saying, may things happen in the best and most painless way possible.

Thankyou for your comments and timely citation and reference.

It's kind of a letdown, when you read that all she gets for winning a million dollars is 34K a year for 20 years.
