Tanka Of The Day/Night

we ask - "how are you?"
do we really want to know?
or want to be asked?
then, do we want to answer?
can this question be answered?

Truthfully, we care,
to the degree of closeness;
asked or answering.
Just a social nicety,
or connecting with our heart.

-- I had never heard of a tanka before reading your blog, but I always liked haikus. I'm enjoying playing with this format. Thanks.

P.S. refuah shleima.

Very nicely done; I like the sentiments and the way they were articulated in tanka form.

I first introduced tanka here: http://rabbifleischmann.blogspot.com/2008/08/how-was-your-summer.html

Her's a good webside to learn about tanka, which predates haiku, and haiku. I don't quite get how a lot of people in the in play around with sylable numbers - I am attached to the numbers...

"How are you?" can mean
two very different things
It can mean, "Hello"
Or it can be much deeper?
Tell me, tell me, tell me - please

Thanks for reading, sharing, inspiring me to write another "How are you?" tanka" and for the good wishes...
