Meta
Slowly, I'm editing. That could be understood metaphorically. Someone once told me that my life was more metaphorical than anyone's she knew of. But I think she was being metaphorical.
That last paragraph was very meta.
I'm up in the retreat center (the CEO doesn't like to call it a camp) where I'll be serving as rabbi. It's cold and therefore hard to sleep. It's early morning and I'm sitting alone in a dark, cold room - feeling Dostoyevsky-esque.
The editing is of my haggadah, in addition to my life. One of the difficulties is that I spell haggadah sundry ways and don't know how to change it all in one shot. There's another metaphor. How to change it all in one shot? I think that's why the four geulot are so key. To remember that geulah happens in stages, even if at that end it feels like the blink of an eye. (Did I use sundry correctly? I never know.)
The director chose certain topics, but I'm leaning towards others. Is it too late to change? (Should I stop pointing out when these lines have dual meanings? It seems to be a recurring theme in this post. Is it just me or do we all have recurring themes in our lives that become clearer and clearer the more years we have to look back on?)
Does anyone have a Pesach memory or thought to share? Read any good blogs lately? There was a good discussion just the other day about Torah UMaddah over at The Curious Jew. How many songs can you name that contain the words "just the other day"? I'm thinking of something by CSN, but I can't place it.
OK, time to try for a little more sleep before it's time for a bunch of meetings. Here's something I wrote 16 years ago during a meeting:
Meetings
Endless words
Time runs on
We grow old
Meeting adjourned

It happened just the other day
