Mountainview

In the previous post I reminisced about my summer and my people (a weird phrase, but I'm sticking with it). (That phrase reminds me of the advice to appoint a teacher, acquire a friend, and judge all people favorably. A plausible explanation for that last part is that even though we have a limited amount of teachers and friends, we need to remember that there's a whole world of people who are different than us and we need to hold back from being dismissive in our attitude towards others that don't make our cut.) Pictured here is a dear friend/student and a dear teacher/friend. One day at The Wall I heard a voice behind me, quoting something I once sad about Jerusalem. It was Rabbi Jon Gross. He was staying in the OC for a week and we had some quality time. We visited a dear teacher of ours and listened to a shiur that he gives regularly in his home, based on his lomdus sefer on the 39 Melachot. Thank G-d for teachers, students, and friends. Without my friends and family I wouldn't know anyone.
