Joan Gets It

Thank G-d. Last night I performed at a fundraiser for P'tach. I was one of six comedians. I think it went over well. As always, when they laughed it was felt so good I can't begin to describe it.

Today I'm marking tests. One of the regular visitors here told me that I fish for comments too often. So let me be clear that I am not presently fishing. DO NOT comment that that you wish me well with the myriad tests I have piled before me. DO NOT comment that you're rooting for me. DO NOT comment that you understand that it takes so long because I agonize over each answer, and more precisely - each student. DO NOT COMMENT. As Chayyei Sarah wrote before her birthday - nothing to see here, move on.

I was recently at a Bar-Mitzvah of a special needs child who wasn't able to recite the b'rachot for an aliyah. Instead, he clapped often, and laughed aloud a few times during kriat hatorah and especially while the Torah was raised up. I go to a shul where noise during kriat hatorah is not usually tolerated very well. Baruch Ha-shem the entire kahal understood that this laughter and clapping was purer than any T'fillot that we could offer up.
SO...I WILL NOT COMMENT on how proud I feel to be one of your devoted bloggers as you were involved in this P'tach event!!!! NOT EVEN ONE COMMENT.

As a fellow teacher, I won't wish you luck and a speedy end to your troubles, but I can think it!

She was one of the great stand ups. Too bad kids today don't know how great she was. And she has her moments, still; After the Oscars she went to three parties. She would have gone to more, but how much Tupperware can you buy?
