Hi
I thank those who all commented with kindness and compassion to my last post. Some on the blog, some in other ways, all is greatly appreciated. These lines were written with a smile.
My play has moved to a higher level. It's now in the Actor's Temple every Monday night. For more info go to www.amatchmadeinmanhattan.com Today we had a four hour rehearsal, on top of the same amount of time on Thursday night. This better become a smash soon. I'm getting tired.
And now for something completely different: ------------------------------------------------------------ Buried between bad news and politics (I love synonyms) in any newspaper you can find human pieces. Last Wednesday's New York Times had a piece about a 26 year old named Derek Ivery who is bundling up lately, even though it's been warm. He leads an unremarkable life, working 9 to 5, living with his mother in Queens. In college his only extracurricular was peer guidance. The article starts with the fact that he's bundling up these days even though it's warm. It goes on to describe a friendship that formed between him and another peer advisor. Long story short - she needed a kidney and he offered his. That's what he has to button up and not catch a cold. The story is written with a keen eye for details of human interactions. It's well done. Someone should make a book of newspaper stories of this sort.

Congrats on the play move! As to the Times piece, Sister Soul knows Derek and wrote about it on her blog:

Great website. Your blurb and photo on the Cast page are great (except for one typo.. can you spot it or should I say?)! You should have told us sooner. Very flattering!
