A Curious Incident

Yesterday on the #1 train someone sitting opposite me was reading The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time (written in the voice/point of view of a 15 year old autistic boy named Christopher). I wanted to reach out to this possibly kindred spirit. But, alas, it's NY and it was the subway and even people less shy than me might have thought twice.

Reminded me of this passage from the book (pg. 158) :

There were lots of people on the train, and I didn't like that, because I don't like lots of people I don't know and I hate it even more when I am stuck in a room with lots of people I don't know, and a train is like a room and you can't get out of it when it's moving.
