Things That Make You Say Hm

Shnayim Mikrah Ve'Echad Targum is a halachah in the Shulchan Aruch. Daf Yomi is not a halacha in Shulchan Aruch. Which one is more adhered to and whichone is more in fashion? Which one gets better coverage and hype, is publicly modeled more often, is taught and talked about more?

What are your thoughts about this?

I was just informed that in the siddur of Rav Amran Gaon it says that before Torah reading on Shabbos morning the whole tzibbur would do shnaiyim mikrah v'echad targum.

Fascinating question. I would thinks it's at least partially due to DY being more of a public thing, which brings kavod, as opposed to SM which is private.
