...One , Two, Three

In the first Mimaamakim journal,
my friend Elyakim had a haiku
about red and yellow being clear and easy
but yellow being the difficult signal,
the Twilight Zone where the Yetzer Harah holds court
(or something like that).
As I was walking this morning this haiku came to me
and I think of it as a kind of companion to Elyakim's thought
(different take on same metaphor)
.
The light will be green
In one way or the other
Depends how you turn

On a less spiritual note-
yellow lights remind me of a cute line from a sweet movie called, Starman (early-ish 80's?), in which Jeff Bridges, an alien, arrives on our planet and one of the observations he makes about our culture is that, "red means stop, green- go, and yellow- go faster."

I didn't know that was in that movie - but have heard that yellow in real life means speed up, even though on your permit test you have to answer that it means slow down.

Maayan, do you, or anyone out there, remember the Taxi scene that introduced Jim? He's taking a test and cheats by asking Alex. "What does a yellow light mean?" And Alex says, "Slow down." So Jim asks the question again slower.

That's so funny! Don't remember that particular vignette- but love that show and all the characters, especially Jim Ignatowski.(sp.?)
