This reminds me (and supports the idea) of the halacha on Shabbos that when it comes to what is allowed for Refuah, we treat someone not on the level they are currently on, but according to the level they would become if left untreated. In other words, if someone currently has a 'meichush be'alma', but if left untreated might turn into a choleh she'ein boh sakanah, we can employ the heteirim now (ie taking medicine) for this meichush be'alma person that normally only apply for an 'ein boh sakanah' choleh.
Great comment, thank you so much. I like when these kind of things have deeper messages. Your comment reminds me of when my Yorah Deah Rebbe used the example of taking white meat chicken in yeshiva though it's dryer just because it's a bigger portion. He applied this to the halacha that even if it's notein ya'm lifgam, if you're happy to have more it's still a problem.
